Freddy Cole “He Was the King”

So sad to hear about the passing of Freddy Cole who was a good friend and someone I worked with for a number of years. It is indeed fitting to see the warm tributes given to Freddy for being the great singer that he was as well as being a swinging pianist but his engaging friendliness was unforgettable. When he sang, he would tell a story with an intimate quality that you rarely hear with singers! I was so humbled when he asked me to put lyrics to a song that he wrote for his brother Nat called“He Was The King”. Rest in peace Freddy you are also royalty!
